INTERVIEW

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your career, for your newer fans?
My name is Ineabell (pronouned in-a-bell), I just turned 21 finally... hahaha.. and i live in New York. I've been in the business professionally since i was about 10. I started modeling and acting which opened the door to my passion of music. I play some piano and guitar and i am involved in the writing of my own music. I've been in print ad's for tommy Hilfiger, Guido New York, Guardisil, fashion spreads for Elle girl magazine, Teen Vogue etc, commercials for MTV, Coca Cola, and McDonald's to name a few. Regardless of being in the business, I am a free spirit. I love dancing and playing video games.. lol, who doesn't? The past 5 years is where I've taken the bigger steps in my music. It's where I was able to open my mind to new things and experiences and have become so welcoming to idea of being creative and doing what I love.

You've done just about everything from singing, dancing, acting and modeling. What made you decide to stick with music as your main career?
It's like i say, "if you believe you have a talent.. its for a reason." Music was always something I knew I loved but I never thought I could be someone who could chase it successfully. When I was about 10 years old, I sang publically to my parents and manager (at the time). They helped put the drive in me to chase what I was good at and loved to do. When I saw the support I was getting, it was just such an amazing feeling and so overwhelming, I knew that music is where I belonged.

Who do you look up to musically?
Oh wow... where should I begin? Blondie, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Pink - I'm a huge fan!

In your opinion, what's the most challenging part of being a new female artist?
Being a new female artist, I think the most challenging part is finding who you are, your sound and not following the trends of the moment. Keeping true to yourself and not pursuing the impression that you have to sound or look a certain way to make it. As a young female artist, it's very easy to fall into the gaps of looking a certain way or going about things in a certain way because you're convinced that it's what you "have" to do. I feel it's important to put your foot down and stay true to who you are. It's a challenge all young women face.

How would you describe the Ineabell Diaz sound?
The sound is old meets new. It very New York raw. I strive to create a modern version of old sounds that are catchy and edgy, but still girl-positive and easy to go along with.

What is your process like for writing songs?
It's actually a really fun process.. I love to do it. It's me, my producer SuZen and two other writers, Hugh and Jimmy. We sit in the studio and first talk about the message we want to say with the song. Once we have the inspiration, we get a melody going and it flies from there. Its good having the other writers and my producer involved because they are all musically talented and have a differnt spin on certain things. We take all four ideas and create one big bang. Of course before a song is final, it changes a couple thousand times, but I'm really all about finding the right things to say and how to say them through my music.

Do you feel that as a performer it is important to write your own music?
Absolutely! As an "artist" you create. Writing and making music is a creation. I think its incredible when you can see an artist perform and know that person feels what they are singing. It's not just a bunch of lyrics thrown at them for it to sound pretty or catchy. Lyrics to a song aren't just a bunch of words, they tell feelings, stories, experiences etc.

Do you have plans to release an album soon?
Absolutely. We are currently shopping the songs and will release an album shortly.

What are your future goals as a performer?
To finish writing the album and tour to support it. Once the album is done, I hope to get it out there and do as many performances as I can to share it with everyone. It's going to be a fun ride and I want everybody out there to be apart of it!
